1. Identify Use Cases Only

After forms are identified, we initially identify but do not document in detail use cases (business processes). The documenting of uses cases can occur later in step 1 or early in step 2 of our 2-Step. Each use case is identified, labeled, and assigned to 1 or more actors as part of the Task Artifact that is identified with the specific form that contains use case, or in a UML Use Case diagram to accompany our standard documentation. If only a UML Use Case diagram is created at this point of the project, then the UML Use Case diagram is used during the Document Use Cases task where each use case and actor are associated with a specific App Artifact and documented.

Deliverable: 1+ tasks in step 1 or 2 of our 2-step. Optionally, we can deliver a UML use case diagram.

2. Version Control Initial Checkin

If the client is an SLA Paradox Support client:

  1. Put a copy of the database (backup ok) on Drive P.
  2. Put a copy of the source files on Drive P.
  3. [OPTIONAL] Add source files to version control.

If the client is an SLA App Maintenance Client:

  1. Create a version control database for client.
  2. Create a app/project database.
  3. Check in source code.
  4. Put a copy of the database (backup ok) on Drive P.

Otherwise, putting files on Drive P and/or version control is optional, but billed hourly.

3. Paradox ObjectPAL Dormant Customer Ordering Trend Report (Old And New Versions)

This article describes a Paradox objectPAL ordering trend reporting program I made that accepts a purchase order date range and a non-purchase order date range. It will report customers who bought during the purchase time period, but not during the non-purchase time period. There are 2 versions of this report. The older version uses only objectPAL Tcursors to perform the processing. The newer one incorporates programmatically executed queries in addition to Tcursors. The purpose of this report is to reveal those customers with declining sales.

5. OO/UML: Aggregation versus Composition

Our most popular article in the history of our online community! Explains the "is a", "has a", "uses a", and "looks like" relationships (updated May 2007). "Is a" is inheritance, "looks like" is interfaces, "has a" is aggregation, and "uses a" is composition.

What type of analysis do you use?
I'm curious about what type of analysis others are using. Do you write up your requirements in a Word document? Do you use UML? Some tool? Do you write up requirements at all?

Boy Mike, that is a big question. How much detail do you want? The short answer is that I write up what my client wants and have them review it. Sometimes my write up is just an email for something small and easy. Sometimes I create a formal Word document. I rarely do diagrams but when appropriate, I do.

C++BuilderX and C
Is there any way to make the TogetherSoft package take C instead of C++? If not is there any other package I can get that builds UML diagrams and so forth for C?

UML in Rational Rose
Hi, i am new to the community so forgive any faux pas., I am building my first UML model in Rational rose and need help in depicting events handling. Particulary, i have a COM server that supports several events that can be handled in scripts within its environment. How do i denote these in class/object format? Do i show them as functions ebing implemented by my separate class?, thanks
