Using MS SQL as back end
I need to set MS SQL up as the back end to a large multi-user paradox 10 app and am having trouble finding discussions of the issues involved. Can someone either point me to the relevant documents or briefly describe the various problems one is going to confront in achieving this? Many thanks.

Robert, many thanks for that. I had been using the SQL link but that was the problem. Once I set up the ODBC DSN and then an alias as you suggested I was up and running. Thanks again - you've made my day. Simon

Cannot see fields in MS SQL tables in Paradox
I am attempting to convert a Paradox database into MS SQL back end using Paradox 10 as a front end. I can now connect to MS SQL 2008 Server Express and see tables in the Paradox data model but when I double click them I just get the SQL hourglass and that is it - none of the fields appear for selection (my dummy tables contain char(10) fields).  Has anyone else seen this?

I replied to your other post so I am curious. How are you connecting to the SQL server? Did you use the BDE native driver? Does that work? Did you use ODBC? --- Robert M.

Corel Web Server Limitations
Hi, I am a Paradox developer from way back (1985 in fact) and have never really touched on the Web Server OCX much. I am wondering if anyone is using this program to any great effect and what if any problems you see with it. Pardon my ignorance here but does the activex server cope with XML, CSS and XForms? I am particularly concerned about security of using the server -i.e. can it be locked down tightly enough for real-world apps?

SQL Server Access via BDE for Paradox
After establishing an alias of MS SQL type in the BDE I am able to connect to the database however when I try to select a table from it via the data model in form/report/query etc I cannot open it - a double click on the list of tables does not open any of them.  There is no error message, but I cannot see individual fields to select them as a result. Any ideas?

yep, I guessed right.. you need p11, which comes with suite 11, 12, or x3.. in any case, you don't need to install everything, just install p11.. you can find cheap copies on ebay most of the time..

RE: SQL Server Access via BDE for Paradox
Thanks Steve, I am using Px 10 and Vista. Same problem occurs with Px9 but not Px8, although with Px8 when I try to add any SQL table into the data model it lets me but then gives the error 'Invalid File Type'. Looks like I need to get a copy of Px11, but don't fancy buying the whole Corel Office suite, I don't suppose anyone knows of a means of getting Px11 seperately? Cheers, Simon
