Hi,

I am running Interbase v5.6 on NT4.0 build 1381, and have a large number of users connected via WAN and LAN. Some of the WAN users use dial-up ISDN to establish the link, I am using TCP/IP protocol, but find that when the ISDN line drops through inactivity, InterBase polls the clients and drops the users connection. The client then wakes the ISDN line up but ends up with SQL errors because InterBase has disconnected.

I have attempted to manipulate the TCP/IP keepalives under NT, and I can reduce the keepalive interval down from it's default of about 3 minutes but I am uanble to increase the interval (I want to set it to at least 1 hour). Even if I disable Keepalives Interbase keeps churning them out every 3 minutes. I have attempted to alter the SESSION_TIMEOUT parameter in ibconfig but this seems to have no effect - has anyone got any bright ideas - I cannot be the first person to have hit this problem !

As another possible solution does anyone know if it is possible to get the router at the server side of the ISDN link to respond to the keepalives on behalf of the client ?
