Upgrade Paradox BDE?
We use Paradox 10. Paradox 10 uses BDE version 5.1.1, , My Question is this can you upgrade to version 5.2 with upgrade paradox?, , I don't really want to change anything in paradox, I just want the lastest BDE. Is this possible?

Just a quick addition to Rick's post. Here at Prestwood Software, we always stay up to date with the latest versions of the BDE so this shouldn't be a problem at all. In fact, it may make some problems go away.

Thanks for your reply Dan.1). This is an interactive event: from a table of results I select any record by a single mouse click and it generates a drill-down to give more detail for the record. I purchased you book on Paradox 9, Power Programing. I need some reading on creating procedures that can be called to do a function and return several answers. Right now I have one big program that runs and works, but I would like to break it out into procedures for ease of maintenance. Install Fonts Programmatically ?
Does anyone know how to programmatically install a Font to Windows? We know to copy the font files to the c:\Windows\Font folder but from there?  It seems that you must manually go to the Font folder and double click on the font file to register it in Windows before it will be available to other applications. There must be a way to get around this manual process? Thanks,Beth

Delphi + BDE + Paradox under Wine. It's possib
Hello,, , My name is Paulo, I'm a Delphi Developer from Brazil, and I appreciate work with Linux and Wine., , I got a chalange: to make our Win32 Apps (Delphi 3 + BDE + Paradox 7) to run in Linux under Wine, and, make them open-source., , These applications are ERP systems, built with Delphi 3 + BDE + Paradox,, designed for small companies. We recommend to our customers to use Linux how, dedicated file servers, in order to provide stability. But all client, stations need Windows installed to work. So Linux isn't used in its maximum, power., , Now we are working in new projects using Delphi/Kylix and Firebird SGDB, (not finished yet) to offer a new cross-plataform solution, but we want to, give a contribution to users community, becoming our BDE aplications, open-source under GPL, using Linux as "native" environment, without any use, of Windows. Insufficient Disk Space Error
I have Paradox9 running on a network. It has been running stably for 5 years now, and have not had any major problems. This morning I went to run a daily process, which includes importing text files. On three different computers we received "Insufficient Disk Space" errors, despite the fact that my private has only 104 MB in it and our network drive has 29 GB free., Paradox is only recognizing 319 MB free on the network drive. Why? Any suggestions?

Paradox .lck
We have a curious and disruptive problem suddenly appear. , , Our several Paradox programs were built more than 10 years ago using Paradox 5 and Windows for Workgroups. Paradox was upgraded to version 7 then to 8 when they became available - and the O/S to Windows 95, 98 and finally to Windows 98se several years ago. All has been working flawlessly all these years until this week when we updated the O/S to Windows 2000 professional on 4 of the workstations. , , We now are often unable to access one or more programs, from one or more workstations, because of lock that occurs. The lock message typically reads: , "Cannot open Docdb:shipdata.db", "Cannot access directory", "File H:\Docdb\pdoxusers.lck", , Above reference, of course, is to the shipdata.db table in the c:\1\docdb directory of server pc100 - as described below. , , The lock effects only a workstation newly trying to access the directory. It does effect the ability of those who may already be accessing the table or tables in t...

PARADOX 3.5 - RUN ON VISTA ?
Hello, , I know, I know any Paradox 3.5 users should have upgraded years ago. I've got V9 but have many, applications developed in V3.5 that I use daily. They run fine on XP but am I going to be able to run V3.5 on Vista in all modes ( 32 and 64 )?. I've read conflicting info on the subject. I know it doesn't run on XP64 ( no 16 bit support ). Vista is 64 bit also, but I saw somewhere that Microsoft demo'd 64 bit Longhorn / Vista running 16 bit Visicalc !!. This is very important issue to me and I would be most grateful for any feedback., , Thanks. John.

My company has developed an application that uses Delphi 5 with Paradox 7, database. You need to call Borland and ask for the legal department. They have all the info there., , I do know that Paradox 7 falls under 5D992.b for its ECCN. This means that the encryption used is less than 64-bit and it is classified as retail. Generally, there are very few export restrictions on the products at this level.

Paradox DOS 4.5
Greetings!, , I have just logged on to this board for the first time., , I am an ancient programmer and have stuck doggedly to Paradox DOS 4.5. My current data base has 286 scripts in 6 libraries and countless data, code and template tables., , I updated my hardware last week and am trying Windows XP. To my surprise, PDX DOS works in this platform. But I have a problem with calling MS programmes from within it. Under Win 98, I could "Start WinWord.exe xxx.Doc". The DOC is set up to merge with data exported from PDX to a DBF file. I cannot start winword now., , Is anybody else still using Paradox DOS?, If so, any ideas?, , Thanks., , PS: To Webmaster. Am not very proficient at using stuff on the Web. I am trying to post an introduction message and my apologies if this message is in the incorrect context.

subject: sending printer commands to a EPSON TM-300PA 40 column line printer, , We are currently developing a POS application that requires a 40, column receipt printer. Reports from laptops cause a hang when printed
I have Paradox running on an Acer desktop and when I print reports they come out looking all lovely, just as you would expect. But I also used to have Sony Vaio laptop and when I tried printing the same reports from an exact duplicate of the table, to the same printer, Paradox would hang (the report went blank with the Windows egg-timer appearing but staying forever). I eventually moved from the Vaio and now have an Acer laptop and the same thing happens, but not every time. Whereas on the desktop everything is fine. Am I alone in encountering this?

Unknown Internal Operating System Error
Two years ago, our office switched from Paradox 5 to Access 2000, however, I kept all my original Paradox files in our network shared drive. Since our IT director does not care for MS products, we never switched to Word and Excel, but upgraded WordPerfect and QuattroPro without Paradox. This caused a lot of integration problems and the resulting decision was to switch back to Paradox. We now have Paradox 10 and I need to start the conversion process once again. I was attempting to open one of the old Paradox databases I created to see if I could just update them. Although the forms will open, the tables will not. The error message I get is "Unknown Internal operating system error" and it refers to a file named "PDOXUSRS.LCK". This causes the forms to open with blank fields since it cannot read the table. Any ideas on what is causing this?
